Dell's iPhone Killer rejected by carriers as too dull
After signaling its intent to follow Apple's wildly successful iPhone into the smartphone business, Dell's first attempts to produce a phone have been rejected by the carries for being too dull and lacking enough differentiation to stand out in a competitive environment, according to a report.
Apple announces 17" iMac for $899
In its March eNews mailing to education users, Apple has revealed plans to offer a 17" iMac starting at $899, alongside its current 20" and 24" iMac models now being sold to the general public.
For Ballmer, a Mac is a PC costing $500 more
In a conference, Steve Ballmer gave its opinion on the renewal of market shares by Apple. According to him, recent data prove that Apple is now in retreat. He considers that this turn down is related to the economic reversal and that it is useless to pay $500 more to buy a machine identical to a PC juste with a logo in the apple shape.
If we are often accused of playing the anti PC troll, however it is not right to let such statements pass by. It is somewhat revealing; Ballmer sought to compare the hardware side whereas its company is concerned with the software. Admittedly, Mac is often very close a PC internally; the greatest difference is precisely at the level of the operating system , and let us leave no doubt about best OS, Vista haa proved that it is difficult to sell with or without Apple as competition.
In fact, and in a more general way, since Ballmer took command of Microsoft, the company did not record any great success:
- Vista? A resounding failure.
- Zune? Without comment.
- Xbox 360? It is not imposed as standard.
